1 DAY GUAYABO NATIONAL
MONUMENT, BOTANICAL GARDENS OF CATIE & SERPENTARIUM
Description:
Ecoaventuras, with its private guide and transportation
provided, will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning.
On route, we will have breakfast in the restaurant, Bocadito del
Cielo, and then we will go to the first tour, Guayabo
National Monument that is located on the slopes of the
Turrialba Volcano, which spans across 217.9 hectares.
It is the most important archaeological area that has been
discovered in the country. It has archaeological structures such
as causeways, mounds, bridges, aqueducts and catchment tanks
among others. At this archaeological site you will learn about
the Indians who inhabited this area and their way of life.
Afterwards, we will go to Turrialba where we will have a
delicious lunch and from there we will go to the second tour,
the Botanical Gardens of CATIE, which retains nearly
5,700 genetic samples representing over 350 species from around
the world. Here you can taste, smell and touch a variety of
tropical fruits. You will find everything from tiny orchids to
parasites and robust strains of bamboo.
Have your camera ready for multi-range shots in order to capture
flowers such as veraneras, heliconias, bridal necklace, the
emperor's’s staff and many more beauties. In this tour, you
will learn practically everything there is to know about the
flora of tropical Costa Rica.
Lastly, we will leave the gardens and travel to the third tour,
the Serpentarium. The owner, Mainor Camacho has 42 years
experience working with snakes and amphibians. He will tell us
many of their stories and after an introduction of approximately
30 minutes, we will visit the cages to observe more closely
these reptiles. The tour ends with a display of some snakes
