  • The Best of the Pacific

From San José we will head towards the Pacific Coast through the old Spanish route of 1606.
tarcoles Once we reach our destination, we will start the jungle boat tour that goes along the Tarcoles River. Our guides will introduce you to the world of crocodiles and different species of birds.

Thereafter we will arrive at one of the most beautiful protected areas, the Punta Leona Beach Resort, an exotic paradise surrounded by 750 acres of lush tropical rain forest, pristine white sand beaches and the deep blue waters of the Pacific.

The day is at leisure and you will have plenty of time to enjoy the pleasant weather as well as activities such as water sports, swimming in the crystal clear water of the sea or just relaxing by the pool. At lunch time a delicious meal will be served at one of the nearby restaurants.

  • Carara National Park and Hanging Bridges (private only)

Carara National Park is a transition zone between tropical humid and dry forests, allowing you to see a large amount of endemic flora and fauna. In the park you will enjoy a guided walk where we can make out the highest diversity of trees in the world, as well as a huge amount of animal species such as parrots, toucans, crocodiles, iguanas and colorful frogs. Then you will visit a private reserve where we will experience nature walks and hanging bridges (suspension-style). Each bridge measures 100 meters long and is suspended 60 meters high. First we will pass through the beautiful city of Alajuela where we can see some patriotic monuments that encompass part of Costa Rica's history. Then we will see the coffee plantations, and the fern, flower and strawberry farms that will accompany us all the way up to Poas Volcano National Park. Turu Ba Ri Nature Park and Gondola

Turu Ba Ri is a private park that offers nature and adventure tours in a beautiful transition zone from tropical dry to rain forest. We will start out with a canopy tour that consists of 12 platforms and seven cables, the last of which stretches 650 meters (2,000 feet). The sensation of flying between trees is marvelous.

Then we will begin a walk along one of the park's paths that will take us to the Butterfly Garden, and Orchid and Bromeliad Gallery. Visit Beautiful San Jose

This tour shows you La Sabana Metropolitan Park, a green space known as the lungs of San Jose. Then we will head to Rohmoser, which is a residential area that houses the Presidentâ's home and several embassies.

During the tour, we will enjoy several areas of the city such as the National Museum, which was a base for our now-disappeared army; the National Theater, which is a cultural jewel built at the end of the 19th century; and the Plaza de la Democracia, where we can browse through stalls selling all kinds of handicrafts.  

Note: The National Theater is closed Sundays. The National Museum is closed Mondays. Tours on these days will only visit the areas around the closed buildings.

 Colossal Irazu and the Gardens 

During our trip to Irazu National Park, we will pass by some of Costa Rica's most important agricultural regions: vegetable and dairy farms. Upon arriving at the park we will enjoy a panoramic viewpoint of the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. And of course we will see Irazu Volcano, known for being Costa Rica's highest volcano, its four craters and its unique vegetation. On the way back to San Jose we wil visit the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles, the church that houses Costa Rica's patron saint, and the Lankester Botanical Gardens. This tropical paradise covers 11 hectares and hosts more than 3,000 species of exhibition plants, including bromeliads, ferns, bamboos, palm trees and a wide variety of tropical trees. The trip ends with a visit to the town of Orosi and its colonial church, which is an excellent example of colonial-religious construction.

Chocolate with Pineapple: Tropical Specialties (private only)                                                                                                                                            Discover cacao's natural and cultural history and the process  used to transform it into chocolate. You will also find out about how indigenous peoples used it and the rainforest that cacao comes from. The tour includes a walk along Costa Rica's longest hanging bridge, which hangs above the Sarapiqui­ River. Once we are on the plantation, we will show you the entire process that chocolate goes through from the cacao plant, flowers, fruit, seed extraction and then making the chocolate. You will be able to make and enjoy your own chocolate. We will continue to the Corsiana Pineapple Farm. This pineapple is unique to Costa Rica, and you will get an overview of the fruit's history. You will feel that you are close to nature in this walk in Braulio Carrillo National Park, as your guides will show you the different plants and trees of this marvelous forest. El Tronco Adventure La Trocha Reserve

We start our hike getting to know the cloud forest from the inside so, we walk into the cloud forest using the all natural trails of the privately own LA TROCHA RESERVE. This reserve is a natural treasure since it holds a primary cloud forest and a microclimate that is the result of drastic changes in altitude.

Sometimes with luck you may see the White-faced Capuccin Monkey (Cebus capuchinus) and frogs

We continue our trail until we get to EL MIRADOR where you can see an amazing view of the canons of the Blanco River and the Cajon River are both rivers have yellowish colored waters due to the sulfur from the nearby Irazu Volcano. Also, for your enjoyment, the Cajon River offers a beautiful waterfall that is more than 200 feet high.

OUTSIDE:
Once the hike inside the cloud forest is done we will show you the cloud forest from outside.

On this section of the trail you will see a panoramic view of the Blanco River canon, Tierras Morenas and Patillos Mountain Ranges, and the entire Central Mountain Range Forest Reserve.

Then we take a walk around EL TRONCO dairy farm where you can appreciate the daily activities of a dairy farm a typical business in Vasquez de Coronado County. In the farm you can find cedar trees that are about 85 feet wide and 180 feet tall those trees have an average of 300 to 400 years old. .

To end our hike, we go through pastures with cows to finally reach back the shelter where we started earlier.
