A pristine wilderness covering one-third of the Osa
Peninsula, Corcovado National Park safeguards virgin
rainforest, deserted beaches, jungle-edged rivers, and a
vast, inaccessible swamp. The park was founded in the 1970s,
when scientists realized that the Osa Penninsula was one of
the richest, most diverse tropical areas on earth.
Corcovado is home to boa constrictors, jaguars, anteaters,
tapirs. If you are lucky enough to come face to face with one
of these rare creatures, it is most likely to happen here.
You will almost surely see flocks of scarlet macaws, troops
of spider monkeys, colorful poison-dart frogs, and agoutis.
